What are the Best Robot Lawn Mowers in the UK?

The grass sits outside, staring you down, daring you do cut it. It is one of the most arduous chores when you do not have quite enough free time, but without it your garden threatens to look like a scary challenge from I’m A Celeb

Enter the Robot Lawn Mower.

This tiny little tinny friend is a smart addition to any larger garden with clearly defined grassy areas that need careful maintenance.

Read on to find out more about these lawn mowers and some great deals in the market!

What is a robot lawn mower for?

The Robot Lawn Mower a type of gardening tool that is perfect for the busy garden owner. Those who may not have quite the time to tend to their gardens as much as they might like may be interested in one of these small, efficient, and novel devices.

These mowers work in a similar fashion to the American “Roomba” – a robotic home cleaning solution that uses motion sensors to bounce itself off obstacles in its way. Tech like this allows for a full floor coverage, but they have not quite picked up in the UK market as much as in the US.

Robot lawn mowers are an expert garden tool using a similar method to clean your grass. Traditionally users will set up a short wire fence to demarcate an area for the robot mower to cover. This provides an automatic area for the mower to bounce across, and as long as you do not leave miscellaneous garden decorations in that area the mower will trim it perfectly.

When the mower begins to run out of battery, it returns itself to its starting position, making it the ideal tool for the busy garden owner.

Popular options.

In this next section I will run you through four of the most popular products like this in Amazon’s UK store. At the end I will provide my recommendation from these devices, considering square metre coverage, battery life, size, and price.

Flymo 1200 R Robotic Mower 400 sq m, 18 V

The Flymo Lithium-Ion Robotic Lawn Mower is Amazon’s featured recommended product on the UK storefront.

This robot mower covers up to 400 square metres, charges on a voltage of 18 volts, and uses a lithium ion battery. What stands out about the lithium ion battery is how long it can last for, and the Flymo 1200 R boasts a 60-minute battery life on a full charge.

Flymo’s Robotic Lawn Mower also contains several security measures, such as a lift sensor and a pin code, alongside self-mulching technology that means no grass clipping disposal is required.

The Flymo currently retails on Amazon and is available for prime one-day delivery.

Lawnmaster L10 Robot Lawnmower 20V Max |

The Lawnmaster L10 has a much larger voltage than the Flymo, clocking in at an impressive 20V max voltage. It also boasts a lithium-based battery and has an auto charging technology built in.

This device is designed to need the absolute minimum with regards to human interaction, and the auto charging tech is part of that. The Lawnmaster can be set to automatically activate and mow the designated lawn area and return to its covered charging point at night.

The product is IPX5 tested: meaning it remains waterproof even when faced with a constant low-pressure jet stream of liquid. A manufacturer’s guarantee of 2 years and provides self-mulching tech that disposes of excess grass clippings.

the Lawnmaster is available on Amazon but does not qualify for prime delivery.

LANDXCAPE LX799 300m2 Robotic Mower

LANDXCAPE LX99’s Robotic Lawn Mower covers 100 square metres less than the other peers in this list, but also clocks in at a lower weight (averaging at around 12 kilograms, compared to the 18 kg of the products before it).

Its lifespan for a day’s work cutting the lawn is between 4-7 hours, relatively impressive for a device of its weight and height, and like the Lawnmaster before it it also returns to its charging zone on completion of mowing.

This product also includes mulching technology.

LANDXCAPE’s offering is making it the cheapest so far on our list.

You can find it here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/LANDXCAPE-LX799-300m2-Robotic-Mower/dp/B07ZD4SHPB/

McCulloch ROB 1000 Robotic Lawn Mower 18 V, Up to 1000 m sq

McCulloch is the only company examined here that goes above 500 square metre coverage, and it surpasses it by a huge amount. This product is designed for the largest and most premium lawns, a fact reflected by the product’s price point.

It can cover a positive or negative incline of up to 25%, has similar mulching tech to the products listed above, and has a fully programmable interface that allows you to control when ROB goes outside for a clean. ROB knows who’s boss.

McCulloch’s ROB Robotic Lawn Mower would cost a consumer a decent amount, making it the most expensive on this list by an exceptionally large margin. This might be due to the massive increase in square metre coverage it provides.

These four listed products are brilliant solutions to lawn-based issues, and each sterling reviews on Amazon provided by real users. However, for general use, I have found that the Lawnmaster L10 provides the overall best value for money.

It has a great square meter range, is not too hefty and has some excellent credentials in terms of waterproofing and how robust it is.

It is not the cheapest product on offer, but I would argue it offers a great compromise between price and utility.

Of course, products like the McCulloch ROB are better for larger lawns, but for the average consumer the Lawnmaster L10 comes out on top.
